The house was set up very nicely for a musical night in, something I really appreciate. Since I can’t get rid of my housemate in the evenings because the pubs are shut, I haven’t enjoyed one of these since October.
Despite having never heard of Byfyn, I really liked their musical style. Byfyn played four songs from a new EP that came out just before Christmas. Having not enjoyed pop music in almost nine years, I welcomed the different sound of the first three songs with open arms.
Byfyn’s voice reminded me of other alternative vocalists I love, such as Ellie Rowsell from Wolf Alice, and Christine and the Queens, and if I were on holiday somewhere and heard the saxophone from the third song playing from a bar as I was walking past, I wouldn’t hesitate to go inside and join the fun.
This was a genuinely enjoyable and relaxing evening, and I would recommend downloading the EP and checking out Byfyn’s other songs.
