It’s been a busy postgraduate calendar year for Creative Writing, with some truly exciting projects reaching fruition, and earning their authors their doctorates. Congratulations to:

Dr Joe Gardner for an SF TV serial tackling teenage mental health and the trope of the ‘Teen Saviour’

Dr Charlene Lee for a collection of interrelated short stories re-evaluating the Old Wive’s tale for the digital age

Dr Cathi Rae for a Creative Writing poetry practice research project titled ‘Unlabelled: The Creative Response to the Lives of Marginalised Individuals’

Dr Caroline Butterwick for a memoir ‘counternarrative’ interrogating stereotypes around visual impairment and mental health

Dr Will Breden for a multimodal exploration of the ‘spectral condition’ of Leicester Millennials in lock-down

Dr Josie Barnard was shortlisted for THE Outstanding Research Supervisor Award.
